AkzoNobel Powder Coatings announced they have teamed up with BioCote, a leading antimicrobial specialist in Europe, to create Interpon AM. Interpon AM is a high quality powder coating product that incorporates leading BioCote antimicrobial technology to offer coating protection in hygiene sensitive environments.

"The possibilities that antimicrobial coatings can deliver are exciting and building hygiene protection into a coating provides a further line of defense in many diverse environments."
The company says the antimicrobial technology used in Interpon AM is shown to reduce levels of bacteria and fungi by up to 99.9% UK and after months of testing the new Interpon AM products will be available throughout Europe.
They say necessity is the mother of invention, and with millions of pounds of powder coating going into landfills a year, these two companies have found novel approaches to dealing with this waste stream.
