No Building? No Problem for Protech Metal Finishing's Nadcap Certification

Despite a fire in April 2017 that took its entire finishing operation, Protech Metal Finishing of Vonore, Tennessee, has been successful in achieving Nadcap accreditation for Aerospace Quality Systems and Chemical Processing.
Although the fire completely destroyed its facilities, the company and its employees banded together to assemble a makeshift plating operation and prepare for the certification process, which Protech then passed.
“This is a major accomplishment for the employees at Protech” says David Hunt, the shop’s engineering and quality manager. “This marks the 15th straight year we have maintained this extremely difficult accreditation.”
Protech says it is the only metal finishing job shop located in Tennessee with Nadcap accreditation. This latest award gives customers further confidence that all the stringent requirements of Nadcap have been met, and they are dealing with a qualified finishing team, Hunt says.
The aim of the Nadcap program is to assess process capability for compliance to industry standards and customer requirements. By achieving accreditation, Protech Metal Finishing says it has demonstrated compliance.
“Compliance via Nadcap accreditation is a milestone in demonstrating manufacturing excellence,” says Joe Pinto, executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Performance Review Institute. “By obtaining Nadcap in AQS/Chemical Processing, Protech has proven to the industry that they are committed to quality and aerospace safety.”
