What are the benefits of vapor degreasing?
A properly designed, operated and maintained vapor degreaser is a reliable and cost-effective cleaning choice for many applications. However, before investing in a vapor degreasing system, a shop must understand the three types of solvent degreasing processes available: monosolvent cleaning, azeotrope cleaning and cosolvent/bisolvent cleaning.

What can I do to ensure a longer, cleaner bath life for plating pretreatment?
Bales Metal Surface Solutions suggests adding an agitation and filtration system to keep plating pretreatment tanks cleaner, longer. With the use of an agitation system, a bath is able to mechanically sweep particulate away from the substrate with fresh chemistry as opposed to letting the cleaner do all the work. This results in reduced heat stratification, allowing a more uniform bath, using less energy.

What is better for metal cleaning — aqueous or solvent?
Both can be effective cleaning methods, depending on the specific context. In order to choose the right cleaning solution, you need to first understand how these two approaches differ in their working.
In aqueous cleaning, water-based detergents emulsify and encapsulate contaminants so they can be washed away.
Solvents, on the other hand, enable the chemical dissolution of oils and greases in the cleaning solution.
