EPDM Plasma System Effectively Pretreats Auto Surfaces
Plasmatreat introduces a space-saving version of its EPDM station, offering clean, precise surface pretreatment to improve adhesive and varnish adhesion.
Plasmatreat GmbH (Steinhagen, Germany) introduces its EPDM station with Openair-Plasma technology. The system offers manufacturers in the automotive industry an efficient, clean, environmentally friendly and highly compact solution for the surface pretreatment of EPDM/TPE profiles. The treatment improves the adhesion of adhesives and varnishes by activating the profile surface.

According to the company this EPDM system is more compact than the previous one and can accommodate up to 12 nozzles in one housing. The generator is located in the housing to save space, so there is no need for an external control cabinet or additional cable connections. This gives users maximum flexibility with minimum space requirements.
The presence of these 12 plasma nozzles further improves the EPDM station’s flexibility. Each nozzle can be individually controlled with individual recipes via the system’s HMI, which recognizes the selected nozzles via sensor detection and coding. Plasmatreat says this enables quick switching between stored recipes. Automatic detection of product movement also enables intelligent nozzle activation and ensures efficient, reliable processes. Rotating plasma nozzles can also be used for gentle pretreatment without visible surface changes in lubricant varnish applications.
