Can you give me the formulation of a solution for electropolishing of gold jewelry that does not contain cyanide?
Q. Can you give me the formulation of a solution for electropolishing of gold jewelry that does not contain cyanide? —P.G.
A. I don’t have a non-cyanide formulation for electropolishing of gold, however such solutions are available commercially. A manual on gold jewelry manufacturing titled "Handbook on Finishing in Gold Jewellery Manufacture" by Valerio Faccenda has a nice section in electropolishing of gold and gold alloys.
