Quesiton:

I read your comments recently about the use of plural-component coatings with reference to applications requiring such coatings prior to dye sublimation applications. We work in dye sublimation and would very much like to coat our substrates “in house” if possible. We have some spray capability and feel this would greatly enhance our product line, since “coated substrates” are very limited with reference to design application.

Could you please recommend a product or products to us? We would like to be able to coat cotton fabrics, glazed ceramics, metals and wood if possible. Thank you for you assistance with this request. R. V.

Answer:

I hear more about dye sublimation applications every day. Next they will be using it to make integrated circuits (By the way, include my name on your patent application for that, since I gave you the idea). Ah, the wonders of science!

I’m not sure if you want me to recommend plural component spray equipment of the materials used therein. Suppliers of the former are listed under Painting Equipment, plural-component spray of the Products Finishing 2005 Directory & Technology Guide (www.pfonline.com/suppliers.html). Suppliers of the latter are listed under Coatings, plural-component of the same directory.

It is the policy of Painting Clinic not to recommend specific materials and equipment by brand names.
