Sapa Profiles North America has announced that it is investing $2 million as a major expansion of anodizing operations at its Miami, FL plant. Construction will begin in December with completion and full operation slated for mid-first quarter, 2012.

The expansion will make Sapa’s Miami operation the largest aluminum anodizing facility in the Southeastern United States. Sam Tingler, Miami plant manager, noted that, “This investment will more than double our Miami anodizing capacity to over 13 million pounds annually. We will offer a full range of services in clear and electrolytic colored anodic coatings as well as acid etch. Further, it demonstrates our continued commitment to this facility, the surrounding community and the regional market.”

Sat S. Adusumilli, Director of Operational Effectiveness for Sapa NA noted that the expansion is only part of the more than $100 million capital expenditure that Sapa has completed in North America over the last two years. “By adding capacity and new capabilities, the Miami facility will add sourcing flexibility and complementary capabilities to our plants in Delhi, LA and Gainesville, GA. which will enhance our customer service to the next level.”
