EPA Draft Toxicological Review of Hexavalent Chromium Available for Public Comment
The EPA has released a draft of its IRIS Toxicological Review of Hexavalent Chromium. The report is available for review and public comment until Dec. 19, 2022.
EPA has publicly released its draft hexavalent chromium assessment for review and comment. The EPA says its IRIS Toxicological Review of Hexavalent Chromium provides the scientific support and rationale for the hazard and dose-response assessment of exposure to hexavalent chromium.
Following the public comment period, the assessment will undergo an independent external scientific peer review managed by EPA’s Science Advisory Board (SAB).
In response to the EPA’s draft of the report, American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Hexavalent Chromium Panel issued the following statement, “We are reviewing the details of the draft IRIS assessment and have strong concerns that the conclusions of the latest state-of-the-art research on hexavalent chromium have been ignored.”
The external review draft of the IRIS Toxicological Review of Hexavalent Chromium is currently available for a 60-day public comment period as announced in the Federal Register. The deadline for comments is Dec 19, 2022.
