NASF Releases January 2022 Policy Update

The National Association for Surface Finishing has released its monthly Policy Update, summarizing some of the pertinent regulatory developments and new announcements from the month of January.

The National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) Government Affairs team has released an update regarding its engagement during the month of January on an array of new rules and initiatives from Washington, D.C. The update includes the following stories:

  • U.S. Supreme Court Reviews OSHA COVID-19 Workplace Vaccine Standard – The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument on whether the OSHA COVID-19 Vaccine, Testing and Face Coverings emergency temporary standard should be stayed.  At press time, a decision was expected in mid-January 2022.: short.pfonline.com/osha011222
  • EPA Proposes to List PFOS and PFOA as (Superfund) Hazardous Substances – EPA submitted proposed a rule to list PFOS and PFOA as Superfund hazardous substances to the White House for review.  The rule could subject PFOS and PFOA to release reporting and cleanup cost recovery requirements. short.pfonline.com/pfas011222
  • EPA Adds N-Propyl Bromide to Hazardous Air Pollutants List – The first new chemical since the Clean Air Act Amendments were passed in 1990 is added to the list of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). short.pfonline.com/bro011222
  • Science Advisory Board (SAB) Criticizes Draft EPA PFAS Documents Over Lack of Transparency – Scientific panel questions EPA’ s scientific data and conclusions to support drinking water standard for PFOS and PFOA. short.pfonline.com/sci011222
  • Wisconsin State Agency Recommends Stringent Groundwater Standard for Hexavalent Chromium – New standard for hexavalent chromium in groundwater is several orders of magnitude more stringent that existing federal and state standard. short.pfonline.com/wis011222
