Paint Shop to Double Kenitra Site Capacity
Dürr's turnkey paint shop at Stellantis' Kenitra site will enhance energy efficiency and increase production of electric vehicles.
Stellantis (Hoofddorp, Netherlands) will double overall capacity at its Kenitra site with a new turnkey paint shop from Dürr (Southfield, Mich.).
The advanced production technology enables environmentally friendly and energy-saving high-quality electric car coating. Paint robots from other plants in the group are being repurposed to conserve resources.
The plant in northwest Morocco will be a model for energy optimization while significantly increasing Stellantis’ production capacity for battery-powered vehicles and hybrid models across the Peugeot, Citroën and Fiat brands.
The company uses Dürr’s RoDip rotational dip process for pretreatment and cathodic electrocoating. This method rotates the bodies around their axis, providing corrosion protection. The dip curves can be individually adapted to different body types, optimizing the immersion, flooding and draining process.
