A.R. Machining Installs New Zinc Phosphate Line
The Texas company is a contract manufacturer specializing in precision machining work for the aerospace, oil, gas and semiconductor industries.
A.R. Machining in Hutto, Texas, installed a zinc phosphate finishing line that has the capacity to finish parts as large as 6' × 2'. The company worked with Birchwood Technologies to install the line.
The company works for the aerospace, oil, gas and semiconductor industries, with over 50 employees and 38,000 square foot of manufacturing space that includes over 24 CNC mills and lathes with four-axis capability. "Time and distance to outside finishers was a big factor in our decision to add the in-house zinc phosphate system," says Matthew Dobias, president of A.R. Machining.
The shop uses Birchwood’s MicroLok MZN process, a fine-grained zinc phosphating solution for iron and steel components. It is applied at 120°F-160°F, and complies with MIL-DTL-16232G, Type Z Classes 1, 2 and 3.
