Asterion LLC in Indianapolis, Indiana has acquired Southeastern Chemical, Inc. Asterion LLC is an industry-leading surface technology company of metal finishing chemistry for the majority of Southeastern’s valued customers.
For Southeastern’s customers, the transition from working with Southeastern Chemical to working directly with Asterion, LLC will be seamless, said Asterion President Blair Vandivier. Doug Trageser, former president of Southeastern Chemical, has agreed to join Asterion, LLC as our Technical Sales Representative in the Southeastern U.S., and will continue to provide the highest levels of service. The acquisition will allow Asterion to provide a complete line of surface finishing technologies, commodity chemicals, and related equipment to businesses located in the Southeastern United States.
“This is another step in Asterion’s growth plan," Vandivier said. "Southeastern has had 37 years of exceptional customer service and technical expertise. Asterion plans to continue this tradition of high service with superior technology. We believe that Doug Trageser will help Asterion continue to provide the highest level of service and expertise to our clients.”
Asterion was formed in 2010 by the merger of New Surface Technologies, LLC and Benchmark Products, Inc. Vandivier said joining with Asterion brings Southeastern’s clients a full line of chemical products together with Asterion’s full resources of technical support.

NASF/AESF Foundation Research Project #122: Electrochemical Approaches to Treatment of PFAS in Plating Wastewater - 12th Quarterly Report
This NASF-AESF Foundation research project report covers the 12th quarter of project work (October – December 2023) at the University of Georgia. In our previous report, we described our work on performance and effect of surface fluorinated Ti4O7 anodes on PFAS degradation in reactive electrochemical membrane (REM) mode. This quarter, our experiments involved utilizing porous Ti4O7 plates serving both as anodes and membranes. Tests compared pristine and F-18.6 Ti4O7 anodes at current densities of 10 mA/cm2 and 40 mA/cm2. This 12th quarterly report discusses the mechanisms of the effects on EO performance by anode surface fluorination.
