Axalta Wins Elevation Award from Durability + Design Magazine
Axalta received an award for its partnership with DSI Spaceframes Inc. in contribution to the San Francisco Transbay Transit Center project.
The San Francisco Transbay redevelopment project envisions the world’s largest rooftop park in the center of what is considered one of the world’s most exciting cities.
Axalta Coating Systems was awarded the Elevation Award in the Public Buildings category from Durability + Design (D+D) for its partnership with DSI Spaceframes Inc. in contribution to the San Francisco Transbay Transit Center project.
The award ceremony honored architects, interior designers, painting contractors, decorative artisans, manufacturers and suppliers for outstanding projects completed between January 1, 2016, and March 1, 2017.
Axalta’s Alesta AR400 Cumulus Cloud, a custom architectural-grade powder coating, was selected by DSI Spaceframes to coat its System III space frame systems, truss-like, lightweight, rigid steel structures constructed from interlocking struts in a geometric pattern. According to the company, AR400 Cumulus Cloud meets the strict durability requirements of AAMA 2604 while providing long-lasting beauty to the transit center.
“We are very excited to be part of such a prestigious project,” says Josh Chambers, president of DSI Spaceframes. “Working together with our partners at Axalta, we were able to produce the finished product we had envisioned with the level of quality we expected.”
“This is a huge accomplishment for Axalta’s architectural segment,” adds Manny Mayer, Axalta’s architectural business development manager. “We consistently work towards advancing our technologies and strive to stay ahead of the industry’s needs.”
