Are there any differences in the quality of the silver plate that you obtain from barrel and rack plating?

Q: Are there any differences in the quality of the silver plate that you obtain from barrel and rack plating? W. I.

 

A: As far as I am aware, the only difference in the silver plate is the appearance. Silver is soft and as a result parts will be burnished by the tumbling action of the barrel. The result of this is that you will get a more lustrous finish from the barrel process.
