We have heard of a pretreatment process that can be used prior to e-coating to fill in any porosity in the castings. I’m trying to find additional information about this product.

Q. I am the business development leader for a custom coating operation. We are currently working on an e-coat application involving aluminum engine block castings. We have heard of a pretreatment process that can be used prior to e-coating to fill in any porosity in the castings. I’m trying to find additional information about this product. B. B.
A. Since I am not familiar with the product, I can’t say if it works or does not. I suggest you ask your e-coat material supplier about this product and its properties. It’s his business to know about anything that will affect the application of his material. I’m sure he know about the product and can help you.
