What type of masking materials are suitable for masking of a stainless steel part that requires copper plating on selected areas? I am using a copper sulfate plating bath at a temperature of 125F. S.T.
Answer:
There are a number of different materials available for masking. In your particular application a lacquer or tape is probably your best bet. You should check the Suppliers page or contact one of the many vendors listed in the 2002 Products Finishing Directory and Technology Guide under Masks, plating, and Tapes, masking for plating and painting. They can help you select the right masking materials for your job.
