Q. What is nickel silver? I have been asked to submit a pricing quotation for plating a large number of pieces made from this material, and want to know what our shop may be plating. —C.G.

A. Nickel silver or German silver is an alloy used in a number of different applications. Silver plated flatware and jewelry are two such examples. It contains no silver. It is an alloy that contains:

Component Percentage
Nickel 10-15
