The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) has selected Sterling Martin Associates to conduct the search for its new chief executive officer. The AMPP search committee, appointed by the AMPP board of directors, chose the firm based on its association recruitment focus and its track record of placing quality candidates, including its placement of AMPP’s current CEO, Robert Chalker, who has announced his retirement effective July 2023.

“We look forward to re-engaging with Sterling Martin to fill this critical role within AMPP,” says Terry Greenfield, search committee co-chair. “Sterling Martin will be a strong partner to the search committee as it diligently seeks a qualified CEO candidate to present to the AMPP board of directors for approval.”

Reporting to the AMPP board of directors, the CEO’s role is vital in the success of the organization and its impact on the professions and industries it serves. The CEO serves as a nonvoting member of the AMPP and AMPP global center boards of directors, and is the chief staff officer of a team of 188 employees who are dispersed worldwide. The CEO leads AMPP’s successful and efficient global operations from its headquarters in either Houston, Texas, or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“Transitioning to new leadership is a challenging step for any organization, and it is particularly significant for AMPP as a new organization that was recently formed from two long-time, mission-driven legacy organizations,” adds search committee co-chair Joe Walker. “With Sterling Martin, we are confident in our path to a successful candidate who will be a stellar leader and passionately serve AMPP’s mission and membership.”
