New Partnership Develops Friction Reduction, Wear Resistance Treatment Process
Applied Nano Surfaces and Precision Finishing Inc. will jointly advance a variant of Triboconditioning technology, a patented process that provides friction reduction and wear resistance on steel and cast-iron surfaces.
Applied Nano Surfaces (ANS) has entered a strategic partnership with Precision Finishing Inc. to advance a unique variant of its Triboconditioning technology, a patented process that provides friction reduction and wear resistance on steel and cast-iron surfaces.
The new variant, known as Triboconditioning CG (Complex Geometries), is a mechanochemical surface treatment process that is engineered to address the outer complex geometries of components such as gears. The treatment is said to improve surface finish, running in behavior and noise reduction (NVH). It also reportedly extends product service life and minimizes and/or improves scuffing, pitting and rolling fatigue resistance.
This partnership brings together ANS’ friction and wear reduction treatment technologies and Precision Finishing’s mechanical surface finishing processes and functional part optimization.
“The combined expertise of our two companies will enhance component value by increasing life along with minimizing friction, noise and other inherent issues such as pitting and scuffing” says David Chobany, technology and sales director of Americas for Applied Nano Surfaces.
“Triboconditioning CG is an exciting process and it is very synergistic with our business model. We know our customers and partners will be able to leverage this technology to further optimize the functionality of their components,” adds Jeffrey Bell, director of business development and technologies.
ANS and Precision Finishing are targeting major companies in automotive and truck powertrains, hydraulics, power generation, racing, gears and others that produce rotating, sliding or mating components.
