The National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) announces that registration is open for its upcoming Zinc & Zinc Alloy Web-Based course, which consists of 10 lessons. NASF says each one contains a wealth of valuable and practical information. This educational program is beneficial for operators and supervisors of contract and captive shops performing zinc and zinc alloy plating, as well as industry sales personnel.

The course takes place from 12 – 2 p.m. ET on the following dates: September 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28. The deadline to register is August 31, 2022.

According to the NASF, the goal of this course is to provide participants with information related to the metallurgy and corrosion behavior of zinc coatings. Participants will also learn the differences between the various zinc plating and zinc alloy plating processes, including potential problems and how to prevent and solve them. At the conclusion of the course participants should expect to:

  • Understand the basic behavior of zinc and zinc alloys in retarding the onset of corrosion in steel and other base metals
  • Have knowledge of metallurgy and basic chemical principles involved in zinc and zinc alloy plating
  • Understand how barrel plating is different from rack plating
  • Know the various types of zinc plating solutions and be able to distinguish the features of each
  • Understand zinc alloy plating processes, including zinc-nickel, zinc-cobalt, tin-zinc and tin-zinc-copper, their chemical make-up and operational conditions.

NASF’s online courses are taught by highly qualified NASF/AESF foundation instructor who is there to support attendees’ educational goals. Attendees receive electronic course materials in advance of the course to guide them through it, and they can follow along on your computer and ask questions during the presentations. All recordings can be made available upon request to participants within 30 days after the original training date.

Once completed with the course, take the optional course exam at your location with a proctor.

NASF member tuition is $875, and non-member tuition is $1,150. Companies that register five or more employees will receive 10% off.

Questions regarding web-based training – or any other industry training NASF/AESF Foundation has to offer – can be sent to info@nasf.org
