MicroCare says it offers a range of replacements for 3M’s Novec specialty cleaning fluids. This comes in response to 3M announcing it will discontinue manufacturing all fluoropolymers, fluorinated fluids and PFAS-based additive products by the end of 2025, including Novec 7100, 71DE, 7200, 72DE, 72DA, 73DE and others.
MicroCare says its replacement fluids have similar performance and compatibility profiles to the Novec fluids. The replacement fluids are capable of cleaning a variety of soils, including oil, grease, particulate, inks, fingerprints and more. The similarity of compatibility profiles helps promote the reduction of damage to delicate materials, the company says. Many of the MicroCare fluids (including the Tergo Metal Cleaning Fluid and Tergo General Cleaning Fluid) are azeotropes, making them chemically stable and nonflammable in both vacuum and vapor degreasers.
MicroCare vapor degreasing fluids are domestically formulated and produced in New Britain, Connecticut. According to the company, the fluids are readily available for immediate global shipment with the capacity to meet customer’s supply needs. The fluids are also said to have low global warming potential and zero ozone-depleting potential ratings, helping reduce greenhouse gas effects and meet strict regional air quality regulations.
In addition, MicroCare provides extensive, in-depth technical support, advice and training for the fluids.
“Our MicroCare team of experts has over 360 years of combined critical cleaning experience,” says Tom Tattersall, MicroCare CEO. “From our in-the-field technical specialists to our in-house chemists, we understand the dynamics between cleaning solvents, cleaning equipment and substrates and soils. We share our skill and knowledge with ongoing troubleshooting to help users qualify and validate their new cleaning fluids with the least disruption to their cleaning process and budget.”
