According to Brenntag North America, as plating chemistry evolves and soils requiring removal from the cleaning, lubrication and cooling processes change, it is necessary to run testing procedures pertaining to the coagulation, flocculation and precipitation processes of various metals of concern. The testing performed by metal finishing facilities focuses on results derived from utilization of the physical process of the waste treatment system, as well as the chemical process utilized, and any post-treatment filtration process prior to discharge to the publicly owned treatment work (POTW) or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) approved receiving stream. Operators of all experience levels can gain additional knowledge on this topic, as well as treatment products, by visiting Brenntag’s booth.

Hexavalent chromium is a known carcinogen, repro-toxin, and mutagen. Its elimination is of high importance to the aerospace industry, which has struggled to find high performing alternatives. Legacy aluminum sacrificial paints have traditionally utilized hexavalent chromium to prevent corrosion and coatings which are equal to or better than have been difficult. This first paper discusses the novel process from the supplier point-of-view.

  • Calculating Applied Media Force During Vibratory Finishing

What appear to be identically set-up vibratory bowls will finish identical loads of parts in varying time cycles. This paper offers a new technique to better predict what the operator will produce, by measuring the force applied to the parts. It is the efficiency of that force which controls the efficiency and speed of the refinement cycle.
