For some reason, many of our questions seem to be focused on an effort to gain a better understanding of the principles behind an E-coat system. I’ve recently been engaged in an interesting e-mail dialogue with one reader in particular. Following is a recap of our discussion.
1) I would love to be able to get my hands on a book that can teach me a great deal more on the passivation process. Is there such a book out there? 2) We rinse parts in a closed-loop bath that is not controlled for pH or any other content parameters. Under what conditions do you need to take the acid bath step? 3) I am setting up passivation and chem film lines in a shop and am wondering what are some good resources for getting started? 4) Are there biocompatibility issues with passivating stainless steel?
