Finishing Activity: Growth Activity Slowed Again in July, Closes at 51.8
July is the third month of slowed expansion for Finishing this year, approaching a low reading Finishing has not seen since the end of 2020.
The Gardner Business Index (GBI): Finishing closed July with slowed expansion.
- New orders slowed the most, dropping 4 points in one month, landing on the cusp of 50 (flat.)
- Backlog, production, and employment indices also showed slowed expansion, but stayed above 50.
- Supplier deliveries continued to lengthen at a slowed rate while export activity contracted at a faster rate in July.
