Hohman Plating Celebrates 100th Year

Hohman Plating is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The shop was founded in 1918 in Springfield, Ohio, by William Hohman, who moved it to Dayton in the 1930s. The company saw a growth spurt in the 1950s with manufacturing of dry film lubricants. Hohman was also one of the first shops to offer a physical vapor deposition coating in the 1970s.

Named several times to the Products Finishing Top Shops list, Hohman Plating specializes in  electroplating, electroless plating, anodizing, chemical conversion coatings, spray coatings, vacuum coating and combination coatings. The company also formulates and manufactures the Surf-Kote line of dry film lubricants.

Hohman Plating works with companies in the aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical, commercial, automotive, arms, HVAC, food, oil drilling, construction, and research and development industries. Its client list includes GE Aviation, Hamilton Sundstrand, Rolls-Royce, Honeywell, ATK, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamic, Goodrich Aerospace, Harris, Pratt and Whitney, BAE Systems, Parker Hannifin, Northrup Grumman, NASA, the U.S. Department of Energy, Cessna, Unison, Messier-Bugatti and Eaton Corp.
