Q. I am looking for information on how to paint lighted display panels such as motor vehicle lit and backlit displays. I am particularly interested in the ones that light up from behind and are on the steering wheel and doors, or inside the dashboard display area. C.S.
A. Painted letters and numbers on lighted and back-lighted displays are applied using custom masks, although some are printed. Your best source for further information are the suppliers of the custom masking materials. They will be able to tell you about the various processes and materials that do not infringe on other manufacturer’s trade secrets and patents. Those suppliers can be found at the PFonline.com by clicking on Suppliers, then Painting and then Masking, customized.
