The growth of the powder coating industry during the last twenty years has been dramatic, with new applications continually being developed to ensure ever expanding market penetration in a wide range of industries.
This growth can be attributed to a number of environmental and economic factors, as well as technological advancements in powder coating formulation and application procedures that have overcome many finishing obstacles of the past. The end result is a durable, high quality finish that is the coating of choice for an ever greater number of products.
Growth of the industry is reflected in the growth of PCI’s membership, which has expanded from just 14 charter company members in 1981 to more than 330 today, companies that supply powder coating materials, application equipment and systems, raw materials, custom powder coating, and related products and services.
The Powder Coating Institute is a non-profit trade association, founded in 1981 to advance the utilization of powder coating as an economical, non-polluting and high quality finish for industrial and consumer products. Through its trade shows, conferences, seminars, workshops and publications, PCI strives to promote the benefits of powder coating to industry, government and the consumer, provide forums to identify and address technical issues, and provide powder coating education and training, as exemplified with this special powder coating section.
Contained in this section are articles on the latest technological advances in the powder coating industry, case studies showing how some companies have benefited by making the switch to powder in their finishing operations, and other valuable information on powder coating and The Powder Coating Institute. On behalf of PCI, I hope you find this section instructive and enlightening on the benefits of powder coating, and I encourage you to contact The Powder Coating Institute for more information.
