Roy Metal Finishing – which it says is the largest electroplating firm in the Southeast – has acquired an 85,000-square-foot industrial building on Old Grove Rd. in Piedmont, SC for $2.34 million. The property was in shell condition, and is expected to be used as a new location for the company, says CoStar Realty Information.

Roy Metal Finishing also purchased an additional 9.49 acres of vacant land for $260,975 for possible future expansion, CoStar says.

Roy Metal Finishing was established in 1961, has three locations in the Greenville area already. RMF is an ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 certified electroplating job shop, specializing in zinc and zinc alloy coatings for the aerospace and automotive industries.

The single-story Matrix Spec Building was completed in 2007 on 10.3 acres in the I-85 South / Donaldson Industrial submarket of Greenville County. It features three loading docks, a single drive-in bay, and 31-foot clear heights. The adjacent expansion land is zoned I-2 with level topography.

As of 2008, Roy Metal Finishing says their sales divided into the following industries: Automotive (75 percent), Consumer Goods (10) and Industrial Goods (15). Over the past 5 years, RMF says it has focused on automating processes and chemical controls, and introducing the latest in trivalent passivate and sealer/topcoat technology.

“Our key markets will continue to include the automotive industry, but we will also begin focusing on the growing aerospace industry in the southeast US.,” says Roy Metal Finishing CEO Cliff Roy. “We are excited about our upcoming audit to the NADCAP, the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors program.
