We are looking at options fro replacing a spray painting line and have been considering installing an electrocoat line to replace spray priming. What kind of trouble can we expect on startup?
We have problems getting a consistently even distribution of a high-viscosity paint in the spray pattern, resulting in striping on the sprayed parts. To get better results, we are currently adding reducing solvents to lower the paint’s viscosity for spraying, and we have tried airless spray equipment from several suppliers with mixed results.
I am a commercial painting contractor and have a customer who is installing a stainless steel tank that will contain a hot alkali solution. The process will be run at about 98ºC. I am looking for a coating to stand up to a hot caustic solution at a 50 percent concentration.
We are considering revamping our paint finishing line and were wondering if we could use the autodeposition process described in the July issue of Products Finishing to paint our products.
We occasionally have problems with insufficient paint adhesion. Where would I find a lab to perform an in-depth analysis of the adhesion among the interface of our paint, a base coat and primer material?
