Process Technology (Willoughby, Ohio) founder Tom Richards passed away March 7, 2021 at his home in California surrounded by his family.

Richards founded Process Technology with the idea of making better, safer heaters than what existed in the market. His numerous innovations include making thermal protectors a standard feature of the heater, a grounded Quartz heater, the invention of a PTFE heater, and UL certification for immersion heaters.

In addition, Richards served as the national treasurer for the MFSA (Metal Finishers Suppliers Association) and AES (American Electroplaters Society) and served as the president of the Cleveland chapter of MFSA.
