Automobili Lamborghini is bringing its series of Aventador models to a close with the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, which is being made available in both coupe and roadster versions.
The vehicle is powered by a 769-hp, 6.5-liter 12-cylinder engine. Because it has a carbon-fiber-intensive structure, it has a dry weight (i.e., before any fluids are added) of just 3,417 pounds.
So the horsepower + low mass = a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 220 mph.
But there are some other numbers about the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae that are possibly more interesting.
For example: the final edition is going to have a limited production run:
- Coupe: 350 units
- Roadster: 250 vehicles
And what is all the more notable is that the vehicles will be available with 18 standard exterior colors.
At the launch
The launch edition of the coupe is a matte, two-tone, grey-on-grey (Grigio Acheso and Grigio Teca) with a matte red Rosso Mimir being used for accent lines from the front splitter along the side to the rear diffuser which, like the roof, is offered in visible carbon fiber.
The roadster is being launched in Blu Tawaret and Blu Nethuns, with high-gloss black carbon fiber roof panels.
Expanded shop for expanded options
In 2019 Lamborghini expanded its paint shop at its production site in Sant’Agata Bolognese from 861,113 square feet to twice its size, to 1,722,225 square feet. This was largely driven by the need to paint the Urus SUV, which is not only dimensionally larger than a super sports car, but is in higher demand.
The painting process deployed at Lambo is both robotic—for the repetitive and ergonomically challenging operations—and manual—for more detailed application.
The company is capable of offering four types of color finishes: standard, special, matte, and Ad Personam.
Ad Personam allows the selection from a palette of 348 colors that have been developed.
So while there are 18 “standard” colors for the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, customers have the option of selecting from 348 others.

Colors and psychology
Lamborghini has found that customers in the Americas tend to opt for custom colors more often than those in other parts of the world, with 20% going custom.
The most popular Ad Personam color for Lambos in America is Blu Cepheus. It is Rosso Efesto in Asia , and Verde Alceo in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
The color and trim experts that are part of the Ad Personam program at Lamborghini Centro Stile, the design operations, working with neuromarketers and psychologists, have identified five color families:
- Sportiva, for the bold and those with a useful spirit. Colors include Giallo Belenus, Arancio Xanto, Verde Selvans and Viola Pasifae. (Think: bright colors, like yellow)
- Contemporanae, modern and minimalist, including Rosso Efesto and Balloon White.
- Eclettica, which include colors that are fresh and innovative, including Blu Cepheus and Viola Bast (i.e., a purple).
- Classica, which includes iconic Italian sports car colors including Verde Scanal and Amaranto (a green and a red)
- Tecnica, the colors for high-performance enthusiasts, including Nero Nemesis (a black).
The end
About the car that will close a chapter in Lamborghini history, Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said, “The Aventador was destined to become a classic from launch, and the Aventador LP 780-4 is the most beautiful expression of timeless design and technical solutions in a final edition: Ultimae.”
