MacDermid Enthone's Kenlevel Offers Nontoxic Process
Kenlevel BF2 provides a burn-free deposit with metal distribution, bright appearance and passivate receptivity for improved corrosion performance.
MacDermid Enthone’s Kenlevel BF2 high-performance, boric acid-free zinc process for rack and barrel applications is designed to meet REACH requirements. It is said the nontoxic process uses liquid additives, enabling automatic replenishment and provides easy waste treatment. According to the company, Kenlevel BF2 provides a burn-free deposit with metal distribution, uniform bright appearance and passivate receptivity for improved corrosion performance. The company says that a low-foaming process enables fast plating for improved productivity. It also demonstrates improved thickness distribution, throwing power and brightness. Suitable for LCD areas, it operates at low zinc concentrations and uses an additive package, making for easy conversion of any conventional acid zinc solution, the company says.

Hexavalent-Chromium-Free Aluminum Sacrificial Paint Validation
Hexavalent chromium is a known carcinogen, repro-toxin and mutagen. Its elimination is of high importance to the aerospace industry, which has struggled to find high performing alternatives. Legacy aluminum sacrificial paints have traditionally utilized hexavalent chromium to prevent corrosion and coatings which are equal to or better than have been difficult. This second of two papers discusses the hexavalent-chromium-free process from the user point-of-view in terms of the process validation work by Rolls Royce Corporation.
