New Anti-Corrosive Paint Incorporates Graphene Additives
Applied Graphene Materials designed the two epoxy-based primer systems to provide those considering the adoption of graphene to quickly test and evaluate its potential benefits.
Applied Graphene Materials (Wilton, England; AGM) has launched a range of industrial anti-corrosion paint incorporating its Genable graphene additives. AGM says the two epoxy-based primer systems are designed to provide those considering the adoption of graphene to quickly test and evaluate its potential benefits.
The Genable Epoxy Primer is a C3-rated hybrid product combining graphene with a zinc phosphate additive to enable users to utilize both systems in standard applications, such as urban and industrial environments.
The Genable CX primer is a high-performance hybrid system, which features a formulation based on graphene and aluminium chemistries to offer anti-corrosion protection for harsh environments, such as offshore and marine applications.
Alongside the graphene-enhanced paints, AGM chemists have also introduced a range of non-metal, active anti-corrosion graphene additives to extend its Genable 3000 dispersion series.
Using a combination of graphene with traditional additives, the newly-formulated metal-free and volatile organic compound-free (VOC) hybrid range is said to maximize synergies across complimentary systems to offer an industry-leading level of anti-corrosive surface protection.
Genable 3100 and Genable 3105 are optimized, formulation-ready dispersions that AGM says are easy to formulate, safe to incorporate and stabilized in a standard epoxy resin. The Genable 3120 offers a more sustainable option in an eco-friendly, bio-based epoxy resin to boost anti-corrosion performance while promoting sustainability.
The new graphene additives are based on the AGM’s Genable technology, which is said to deliver significant performance improvements such as chemical resistance, barrier and anti-corrosion properties.
