Portfolio of Energy-Curable Coatings Launched
PPG's DuraNEXT portfolio includes EB and UV curable coatings, offering rapid, energy-efficient solutions for metal coil coaters.
The PPG (Pittsburgh, Pa.) Duranext portfolio of electron-beam (EB) and UV curable backers, primers, basecoats and clearcoats offer energy efficiency and high speed of energy curing for metal coil coaters.
The coatings use an electron beam or UV energy to convert a liquid coating into a fully cured solid finish in seconds.
The portfolio includes backers available in both UV and EB formulations to accommodate various application equipment setups. These can be applied over a primer or used as a direct-to-metal application.
UV primer can be used under an EB topcoat or with a conventional thermal cure topcoat. These primers could also be used in conjunction with a wet-on-wet applied topcoat and cured with EB in a single pass.

NASF/AESF Foundation Research Project #122: Electrochemical Approaches to Treatment of PFAS in Plating Wastewater - 10th Quarterly Report
The NASF-AESF Foundation Research Board selected a project addressing the problem of PFAS and related chemicals in plating wastewater streams. This report covers the 10th quarter of work (April-June 2023). Here, we examine the effect of surface fluorination of Ti4O7 anodes on PFAS degradation performance in terms of energy performance as well as formation of chlorate and perchlorate when chloride is present in the solution. The full paper on this work can be accessed and printed at short.pfonline.com/NASF24Feb2.
