We are coating automotive components. We are in the process of trying to complete a new order for coating of shock absorber springs for motorcycles. The problem we are facing is that the there is repulsion of powder from the inner side of the spring in some areas and also pinholing. What should I do to resolve the coating problem for the inner side of the spring?

In our line, we use fluidized bed coating process to coat the baskets, made of 1008 cold drawn wires. I have some problems with the coating line and wonder if there is something we can do. In our production, the thickness of the coatings are different from each other. Another problem is that there are some pin-holes on the baskets. Some points are not covered by powder.

I always see the typical pretreatment stages to be a cleaner, rinse, phosphate, rinse, sealer, rinse or not. Nowhere do I see anything to deal with the rust and mill scale from the HRS steel. Is there a product that removes the rust, mill scale and oils in one step? Or are there more steps required, I can honestly say most everything I ever read about seems like a perfect world where the only thing the steel has on it is oils.
