Acid Pickle Cleaner Cuts Rust, Oxide Scale on Steel
Henkel’s Bonderite C-IC 182C metal cleaner is suited for both hot- and cold-rolled steel, and can be used as a conventional pretreatment spray or on an immersion line.
Henkel’s Bonderite C-IC 182C is a phosphoric acid pickle formulated to eliminate rust and oxide scale on laser-cut steel parts. Suited for both hot- and cold-rolled steel, the metal cleaner can be used as a conventional pretreatment spray or on an immersion line, and features biodegradable surfactants that facilitate its disposal into waste streams.
According to the company, the acid pickle provides improved surface wetting and reduced flash-rust formation, and by eliminating oxidation, it improves adhesion of paints applied to finished metal components and minimizes chipping caused by impact. It is said to minimize rework, lower production costs, improve aesthetics and potentially eliminate cleaning processes altogether for lightly-soiled substrates.

Corrosion Resistance Testing for Powder Coating
Salt spray can be useful to help compare different pretreatment methods and coatings but it does not tell us much about the corrosion resistance of a part over time in the field. Powder coating expert Rodger Talbert offers insights into how to get a better idea of how to improve a part’s corrosion resistance in the real world.
