Dry Film Lubricant Problem

We are applying a dry-film lubricant on small bolts, nuts and washers using the dip-spin coating method. In many cases, we are faced with parts sticking together after curing and, as a result, 10 percent of these parts must be reprocessed. The coating is cured in a tunnel oven. I think some kind of additional process should be done before curing in order to keep parts from sticking together, but I do not know exactly what to do.

Coating Textile Braids

In our manufacturing process we apply adhesive coatings over certain textile braid for reinforced rubber hose constructions. On other hose items, we apply a lacquer coating over the textile braid. In order to dry out the lacquer coatings, the hose travels vertically through a 50-ft-high tower, passing through a series of electric heating elements. The liquids are applied by spraying. We would like to investigate the possibility of a more updated arrangement, such as electrostatic spraying. What do you suggest?

Painting Molded ABS

We are having a problem painting an ABS injection-molded part, with dark, cloud-like spots and long parallel splays. The defect is consistent in location on each molded part. Can you help?

Reusing Water

We are using ion exchange treatment for wastewater from nickel-chrome and zinc plating. The metal rinses are passed through the ion exchange process to remove the presence of nickel, hex chrome and zinc metal ions. The “clean water” is re-used to rinse our plated parts, but we find that it attacks the bright zinc finish. What kind of characterization do we need to do to identify the pollutants that cause this?

Predictive Analytics

Imagine for the moment you could predict the future. Suppose you could foretell how your customers, employees or suppliers would behave during the next year or two. How would you use the information? Would you introduce a new finish to the market before anyone else?

Ripple Effect: Researchers say leveling of electrodeposits can be achieved by applying a small forcing voltage

Seeking smoother plating deposits? It may be all in the waves. This story looks at studies that have shown that superimposition of a small sinusoidal potential wave (smooth, repetitive oscillation) onto a potentiostatic bias can lead to more level electrodeposits in finishing.

Product Quality Means Better Cleaning

Choosing an Aqueous Parts Washing System: As machining technology has advanced, expectations for product quality have increased as well. But better finishes and tighter tolerances are not the only goals. The need for meeting more stringent cleaning standards has gained the attention of many shops.
