Liquid Coating
Salt Crystals on the Paint Film
We get pinholes and small blisters in the paint film on our aluminum equipment enclosures. There are also, on occasion, table-salt-size crystals on the surface that can be brushed off. Can you tell me what is going on and how durable the finish will be outdoors? What questions should we be asking the vendors?

We are applying a dry-film lubricant on small bolts, nuts and washers using the dip-spin coating method. In many cases, we are faced with parts sticking together after curing and, as a result, 10 percent of these parts must be reprocessed. The coating is cured in a tunnel oven. I think some kind of additional process should be done before curing in order to keep parts from sticking together, but I do not know exactly what to do.

In our manufacturing process we apply adhesive coatings over certain textile braid for reinforced rubber hose constructions. On other hose items, we apply a lacquer coating over the textile braid. In order to dry out the lacquer coatings, the hose travels vertically through a 50-ft-high tower, passing through a series of electric heating elements. The liquids are applied by spraying. We would like to investigate the possibility of a more updated arrangement, such as electrostatic spraying. What do you suggest?
