Tighter Tolerances

We have a number of jobs that require making steel parts with very tight tolerances on the fit. We are thinking that zinc plating/chemical conversion coating might not be the best solution for us. Are there other materials out there that might give us more consistency on our tolerances and thickness?

Copper Plateback

We have a rack line where we run our zinc and tin plating, and we are noticing when soaking copper parts, in our alkaline soak cleaner, that our steel parts will acquire a dark film on them, when removed from the soak, to go into the electrocleaner. What would be causing this?

Field results from this unique passivate system have demonstrated comparable corrosion protection to existing cobalt-containing Cr(III)-based passivates. Electroless Nickel Duplex Coatings Using RoHS-Compliant Systems

Duplex coatings can offer corrosion and wear resistance that exceed those of conventional electroless nickel (EN) deposits for specialty applications. Duplex coatings consisting of a high-phosphorus EN or a new ternary alloy underlayer and an upper layer of low-, low/mid- or mid-phosphorus electroless nickel were investigated. Wear, adhesion and corrosion resistance properties for numerous combinations of EN duplex coatings are presented here, both as-plated and after heat-treatment. Duplex coating results are compared with single layer EN deposits.
