Can you detail the procedure for anodizing using the current density method? What are the quality advantages for us to completely change our processing technique?
We have an accepted color that we are using for a dyed anodized finish on 6061. Over the years, the approved color somehow went from an original production run coupon to a standard Pantone color. Unfortunately, the Pantone color doesn’t match the approved color, and we have been struggling with this for years. We would like to find the Pantone color that matches the parts we have and then incorporate this into a process specification. What’s the best way to do this?
What should be the maximum aluminum content in alkaline etching to avoid galvanized appearance (also known as spangling) in anodized (type II, natural, 10u) 6063 T6 extrusions? Do you think complexed aluminum helps to attain micrograin matte finishes? All in all, it seems that while free aluminum may promote spangling, chelated aluminum does the opposite (enhances matt finish). Is this right?
We anodize small sheets and then digitally print on them. The time between anodizing and printing can be weeks. After 2–3 weeks, the anodic layer does not seem to absorb the solvent dye as well as it does after 1 or 2 days. How can we prolong the time between anodizing and printing?
Q. We are facing a blister problem on 7075 alloy inside the bore diameter of our cylinder base. We noticed that this problem is occurring during dyeing process and not after hard anodizing. Can you please advise us what could be the reason? S.C.
